this is my story i’d like to share with you!

Imagine growing up as the middle child. Picture being the only boy and having four sisters. As you might imagine, I spent many days listening to my sisters' woes and helping them settle conflicts. As I reflect, I believe God was preparing me to become a counselor at a young age. My life has been defined by helping others see patterns in their behaviors while actively listening to understand others’ points of view.

As a helping professional, I recognize navigating my education and career would not have been possible without individuals who believed in me when I did not believe in myself. The push I received from visionaries led me to be the first in my family to graduate from not one but two colleges, the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill with a bachelor's degree in Exercise and Sport Science and North Carolina Central University with a master's in Clinical Mental Counseling and a master's in Career Counseling.

After graduating from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, I began working as a College Adviser in two rural high schools. While working as an adviser, I realized my students had natural talents and skills to pursue their passions but often needed additional resources and a nudge of confidence to take a step outside of their comfort zone. Since my time as a College Adviser, I have managed teams of over 60 individuals, executed recruitment strategies, and maneuvered difficult and highly political workspaces. During my journey, I have felt inferior on the job, quit jobs that did not fit, and worked tirelessly to achieve what my ancestors envisioned for me. At times, I wondered if I was enough, and time has taught me, “Yes, I am enough…and I am all that I need to be.”

AND YOU ARE TOO!

DYSN is a significant part of my overcoming the barriers and hardships that seemed insurmountable. I find joy in helping others navigate the uncertainty that comes with career stress and indecision. I have overcome personal doubt, imposters syndrome, and low self-esteem. I seek to help my clients do the same.

Gain clarity, gain a greater sense of purpose, and learn to move beyond resilience in order to THRIVE.
